If you are going to be moving from one home to the other, then you want to make sure your belongings are packed securely and so they are well-organized. You also want to be sure everything gets moved from point A to point B without anything getting damaged or lost. The information in this article is going to help you to pack everything and get it all moved in the best manner possible.

Use a charting system when you are packing

Pack one box at a time and make sure you write down each item that goes into the box. Next to the list of items, give the box a number. You can also give it a letter that indicates the room it came out of. For example, all your kitchen boxes can be given the letter "A" and your main bathroom boxes can be given the letter "B" and so on.

Packing in this manner will make it much easier to find all your things. You can also make it even easier to go through your storage unit by placing the boxes into it according to the letter and then in numeric order.

If there are some items that don't really have a place to go and are a mixture of a lot of miscellaneous things, then you can place them into clear bins marked "Miscellaneous". This is going to make it simple to find those odd items because you can peak into your clear bins and find just what you are looking for.

Move your appliances carefully

You should secure all shelves and racks in your appliances by removing them and taping them inside the appliance. Then, tape the electrical cord to the side of the appliance to protect it.  If there are knobs that protrude then they should also be removed, put in a baggie and taped inside the appliance. Appliances should be moved with furniture dollies in the stand-up position.

Have a piano mover for your piano

There is a lot to consider when moving a piano. Not only can they be very heavy and extremely awkward to move, but tilting them too much or knocking them on accident can cause permanent damage. For this reason, it may be best to have your piano moved into your storage unit by a professional piano mover, such as a business like Johnson Piano Moving.

Now that you have a better idea of how you can pack and move your items without losing them or breaking them, you can make your move less stressful.

About Me
Avoiding Storage Issues

When I rented my first storage unit, I encountered a world of trouble. I accidentally stacked my boxes too high, which lead to a disastrous fall and a lot of product damage a few weeks into the storage process. I also rented the unit under my friend's name, which meant that I didn't have access to my space the day I lost my key. After making these mistakes, I realized that things didn't have to be so difficult. I talked with storage managers to figure out what I could do better the next time around, and it made a huge difference. Read here to learn more about improving your storage experience.
